West Midlands Community Award

19th of March 2018

On Friday 16th March, we were delighted to be one of two Herefordshire based businesses announced as winners at the West Midlands Federation of Small Business Awards. Although we have hundreds of commercial clients we have always had strong focus on community work and decided long ago to use our skills to help benefit the local community. We are immensely proud to have been recognised for this with the West Midlands Community Award.

Voodoochilli have helped and supported many local causes in the many years that we have been established in Herefordshire. These include a family drug support charity who we have been involved with for nearly two decades and in recognition of this we were personally thanked by HRH Princess Anne in 2014. The website itself was cited by the Home Office as an example of best practice.

In 2015 we approached Hereford FC. The club had just suffered a major setback which you may have heard about. Hereford FC had zero budget and were relying on a free template that was not working very well for them. In contrast the new site that we built for them (free of charge) was a tremendous success, loved by the club and the fans. Hereford FC are now easily able to pick up new sponsors and supporters.

We also reached out to Herefordshire Council and asked to help out with their “Here You Can” campaign. The campaign was originally set up to encourage people and businesses to be proud of the county. It was rather sad and ironic that the campaign itself was underfunded and soon ran out of steam. We met up with the Herefordshire Brand team who were more than delighted with the offer of help. Voodoochilli designed and built them a site they love, totally free of charge.

This year we are supporting a client who is taking part in a remarkable challenge – The Talisker Atlantic Race. Hugh Peachey and Blue Baxter will be rowing across the Atlantic from ‘La Gomera’ to ‘Antigua’ in order to raise money for some amazing causes. The race is 3000 miles in length and will take about six to eight weeks to complete. Voodoochilli are in the process of creating a website that will aid with providing information and obtaining sponsorship for the challenge.

Harry O’Connor Managing Director and Hannah Garside Studio Manager attended the awards ceremony held at the National Conference Centre Birmingham.

We were absolutely delighted to be recognised in this way and very chuffed with our new trophy!
