In our last post we wrote about the benefits of working with us as a company in search of a new web developer. Well at long last that search is over and we are proud to announce we have a new member joining our team next week – Lucas, a talented and experienced web developer. We have known of Lucas for a few years now, and followed his career over this time and it is great to have the opportunity to work with him. We asked Lucas a few questions so as you can get to know him a little in preparation for his first day with us next Monday.

Tell us a little about yourself.

Web development and sport are my two passions. I got into the web from an early age, with particular influence from my Dad, and after dabbling with a number of programming languages, picked one, taught myself and never looked back. My early career however, took a non-development direction, but it was steered back on track after realising I could make a successful career out of doing something I loved.

I’m a bona fide sports nut, particularly football and cricket. I have played both sports in local leagues throughout Herefordshire, from Sunday League football and small-sided 5/6-a-side football to the Marches Cricket League. I am also a big fan of my local club, Hereford FC, and its predecessor, Hereford United, having previously been a season ticket holder.

I also have a wonderful young family to support and am committed to dedicating as much time as I can possibly spend with them.

Tell us a little about your work experience to date and what you have learned and what you hope to bring to Voodoochilli.

I have worked for various web design agencies, from cutting my teeth at a local Herefordshire company, to working on a single brand product with a global reach. It has been interesting to work for companies that, whilst striving for the same objective, all do things slightly different in order to achieve as perfect an end result as they possibly can. I’ve been fortunate enough to learn from a variety of hugely talented people in my career to date which I believe has stood me in good stead and made me the experienced developer I am today.

What attracted you to working with us at Voodoochilli?

Voodoochilli’s reputation precedes itself, with an unmistakable and highly regarded brand, and its location in the heart of Hereford makes it special. Being a local Herefordian myself, I feel that both my personality and Voodoochilli’s ethos are a perfect fit. Its beautiful new office is certainly an appealing environment to work in, and having met my new colleagues on a number of occasions now, have been made to feel very welcome as part of the Voodoochilli team.

What are you looking forward to working on most of all?

It would be easy to say the Hereford FC website, which of course I am looking forward to, very much. What I’m most looking forward to, however, is the opportunity to work with new and interesting clients, and being part of a group of people who love doing what they do, for people they love doing it for.

We are all looking forward to getting started with Lucas next week, and with his skills on board we will be better able to provide for our clients as well as having more capacity to take on more work from new clients. Welcome aboard Lucas!
