I have just upgraded to WordPress 2.1, and I had some major problems. For a start off I forgot to turn off all the plugins before upgrading! Luckily I had a backup of the database and I was able to manually turn off the plugins using PhpMyAdmin. I simply searched for the plugin names, found the column that that contained them and emptied the data. I then removed all the old files off the server and re-uploaded. If you are about to upgrade, make sure you turn off all plugins first as this will save you a lot of hassle! Its also a good idea to make a full database and file backup before you do anything.
Renaming the Plugins folder would have been easier.
And faster.
How right you are!
Actualy, after realising I had problems, I did try to delete the plugins folder off the server, it had no effect, partly because some of the pages on the template files used functions in those plugins.
I’ve been testing the same Blue Zinfandel theme you’re, but faced up with such problem: the middle column keeps breaking when the browser window is shrunk down past the minimum width. You have the same problem. But recently I have found this theme, modified by ConceptDraw Lab, where this problem is solved. So, if you want to use this beautiful theme for your blog and have no trouble with its view in different screen resolutions, you can download it from ConceptDraw Lab Blog.
I downloaded a copy of the modded theme, but its visually modified as well as having lots of links pointing to their own site.
There are not so many links, as you think. By the way, you always can change them. The only link, that i have found is in the right sidebar…
Well as you can see I have changed the site and are no longer using Blue Zinfandel. Cheers anyway.
